PUBG creator Brendan Greene intends to develop a game powered

By blockchain, NFTs, and the metaverse.

The next game, Artemis, will allow users to create and play whatever they want in an Earth-sized virtual and open-world environment. The evolving industry of blockchain, metaverse and NFTs accelerates as blockchain firms provide gaming infrastructure.

In an interview on September 27, PUBG creator Brendan Greene stated that he aims to add blockchain, metaverse, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into its Earth-sized virtual and open world game Artemis.

The blockchain-powered game will empower gamers and creators with new options and experiences. Furthermore, metaverse and NFTs will bring new in-game features, products, and tokens, thereby launching a new digital economy. Additionally, developers will create novel gaming experiences that were previously impossible.

“We're creating a digital space. That must have an economy and working systems. And I believe you should be able to extract value from a digital environment; it should be similar to the internet, where you can perform things that will earn you money.”

Artemis is not about money, but players and artists will be able to monetize their work. The game engine will be open-source, allowing anybody to make changes to the game.

Meanwhile, platforms and developers like Steam and Ubisoft have rejected blockchain games and NFT projects. Also, Minecraft's ban on the usage of NFTs or blockchain has had an influence on crypto and blockchain enterprises.

Rising NFT and Metaverse-Based Game

The NFT and metaverse companies continue to garner billions of dollars in funding, amid growing interest from individuals and other groups. Recently,  Walmart entered the metaverse with Roblox, an online gaming platform that offers immersive experiences. In addition, MyMetaverse and blockchain platform Enjin introduced playable NFTs on the servers of renowned games Grand Theft Auto and Minecraft.

Also, Axie Infinity and The Sandbox platform have attracted a lot of attention owing to in-game NFTs, metaverse, and the opportunity to monetize and earn money. Companies such as Animoca Brands continue to invest in Web3, metaverse, and NFT technologies, particularly for gaming purposes, in order to become a market leader.
