A new job posting on LinkedIn from the UK Treasury seeks a "Head of Central Bank Digital Currency."
The listing claims that "the selected candidate will be responsible for leading HM Treasury's work on the prospective digital pound.
Currently, the country, like many others across the world, is discussing the benefits of issuing a CBDC.
A report from Coindesk reveals that the nation's treasury department plans to launch a consultation on the development of the digital currency "in the next weeks."
Reports added that the Treasury is looking for a "Head of Central Bank Digital Currency" on LinkedIn. Furthermore, the listing comes as some other countries are concerned about the overall demand and proper implementation of digital assets.
The UK Treasury is seriously looking for a CBDC executive to lead the development of a digital pound. The Coindesk report cites a job listing for the role, as well as some of the responsibilities of the CBDC head position.
The listing claims that "the selected candidate will be responsible for leading HM Treasury's work on the prospective digital pound- A U.K. central bank digital currency," according to the report.
Furthermore, it adds that the CBDC will collaborate with the Bank of England on "the governments soon to be issued consultation on the digital pound," based on the listing.
Furthermore, the position will be located alongside the payments and fintech team but apart from the current crypto-asset and digital currency division.
Currently, the country, like many others across the world, is discussing the benefits of issuing a CBDC. Following that, in November, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, Jon Cunliffe, cited last year's developments in the industry as evidence of the necessity for CBDCs.
