mStable is an autonomous and non-custodial stablecoin infrastructure designed to give decentralised finance platforms and protocols a base layer collateral protocol on which DeFi applications can be built. The goal of the mStable meta-asset platform is to make assets that are stronger than the sum of their parts. mUSD is a mStable asset (mAsset) backed by a basket of USD-pegged stablecoins. It has features like a deep liquidity pool for fast and low-slippage stablecoin exchanges. - Can be issued and redeemed for a specific asset or group of assets - A native interest rate with a low risk that gives a high return by combining income from lending and trading fees. mUSD dApps include: SWAP, which lets you trade USD stablecoins with no slippage; - SAVE - Anyone, anywhere can open a USD savings account.

James Simpson and Henrik Andersson started mStable. They worked together at Apollo Capital, which is where they met. After getting hands-on experience with a few stablecoins and lending platforms, they started working to combine lending, swapping, and saving into a single standard and try to fix some of the problems that stablecoin users already face. This project turned into mStable. A group of 9 people called the genesis team and a community of thousands used their voices and votes to run the protocol without a central authority.
