Secret (SCRT) is a Cosmos-based privacy blockchain. Its smart contracts are known as Secret Contracts, and they allow DApps to use private data on Secret in the same way that smart contracts work on other blockchains. Secret Contracts, on the other hand, transform encrypted inputs into encrypted outputs without disclosing data. This is made feasible by the encrypted contract states that are used during execution.

Data privacy is ensured by integrating encryption techniques and key management inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). This enables Secret Contracts to compete for a variety of privacy-related use cases that standard blockchains have struggled to handle. Private voting mechanisms or credit scoring apps, for example, become viable since Secret does not reveal sensitive user data on-chain.

Secret was developed by the Secret Foundation, an organisation devoted to the adoption of decentralised technology with an emphasis on privacy. Tor Bair, a Chicago-based entrepreneur and MIT alumnus who has advised numerous other Fintech businesses, launched the Secret Foundation in 2017.

The Secret Network differentiates itself by emphasizing privacy and end-to-end data encryption, which blockchains such as Ethereum do not provide. Developers may create solutions that preserve data privacy without sacrificing usability, helping the network achieve its aim of accelerating the adoption of privacy-first, decentralised apps.
