Global Bitcoin ATMs Witness Surge After 4-Month Decline

After a 4-month decline, Bitcoin ATM usage is increasing globally.

May 2023 brought a surprising shift in the global crypto ATM network's trajectory. After a continuous decline over four months, the addition of 1,397 new machines offset the previous net loss of 5,850 ATMs. Australia emerged as a significant player by installing 233 machines, securing its position as the world's third-largest crypto ATM hub. The United States remained in the lead with 84.7% of crypto ATMs, followed by Canada at 7.6%. Unfortunately, Bitcoin ATM manufacturer General Bytes recently experienced a security breach resulting in the theft of 56 BTC and 21.82 ETH, prompting the company to recommend a migration to a more secure self-hosted server installation.
