Cryptopunks non-fungible token (NFT) collection momentarily surpassed the floor value of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection.
While it's not by a huge amount, the Cryptopunks floor was 66.45 ether at the time, while BAYC's least expensive NFT was 64.99 ether.
According to sources statistics, non-fungible token (NFT) sales are down 18.75% this week compared to the previous week's sale volume. This week's top seller is Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), with $15,087,189 million in sales, a 61.47% increase over last week.
While Cryptopunks is the sixth largest collection in terms of NFT sales this week, with $4,517,133 in sales, sales are down 52.38% from the previous week. Despite the lesser quantity of sales this week, Cryptopunks managed to momentarily flip BAYC in terms of floor value.
On August 21, the floor value of Cryptopunks was 66.45 ETH, or $107,866. At the time, BAYC's floor value was 64.99 ETH, or $105,623. The battle had lasted throughout the day, and BAYC was able to reclaim the top floor later in the afternoon.
FT floor values are not what they were 26 days ago, on July 26, 2022. BAYC had the highest floor value at the moment, at 82 ether, since it was the least priced BAYC on that day. On July 26, the floor value for Cryptopunks NFTs was 73.95 ETH, putting them in the second position. In reality, figures from sources suggest that BAYC has maintained the highest weekly floor value for months on end.
Last week, Yuga Labs released the Cryptopunks and Meebits intellectual property licenses, triggering today's competition. The new licenses allow Cryptopunks and Meebits owners to utilize their NFTs for business or personal reasons. The company's BAYC NFTs have a license for NFT owners as well, however, according to a research, the license encompassing BAYC, MAYC, and BAKC NFTs has key discrepancies.
On August 21, 2021, Cryptopunks briefly switched BAYC's floor value, while the reverse happened on December 22, 2021. At the time, the lowest priced BAYC was 53.9 ETH, while the lowest valued Cryptopunk was 52.69 ETH. However, after BAYC flipped Cryptopunks at the end of last year, it has retained its reign as the top floor value. With the exception of a few instances, the NFT collection PROOF Collective has momentarily flipped BAYC.
Following the short flippening early Sunday afternoon, BAYC regained the top position, with a floor of 68.48 ETH versus Cryptopunks' floor of 66.45 ETH. While BAYC's market cap is $1.11 billion at the time of writing, Cryptopunks' market cap is presently about $1.07 billion. At the time of writing, BAYC's floor was 68.48 ETH while Cryptopunk's floor was 66.45 ETH.
