Fidelity Digital Assets, the crypto arm of Fidelity Investments

According to an email shared on Twitter by Fidelity's crypto arm, the crypto arm launched additional "Institutional Ethereum capabilities" for institutional investors beginning Oct. 28, 2022.

The post states that investors will be able to purchase, sell, and transfer ETH using the same methodology that is currently used for bitcoin investments.

With the completion of the Ethereum Merge, many investors are seeing Ethereum through a new lens, said Fidelity, most likely referring to Ethereum's move to the environmentally friendly PoS consensus.

Fidelity has long been a supporter of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, noting in a previous report that it is a superior form of money rather than just technology.

This recent announcement follows the launch of a new Ethereum Index Fund, which has raised more than $5 million since its first sale on Sept. 26 through a single investor, according to an Oct. 4 filing.

In April, Fidelity announced plans to allow customers of 401(k) retirement savings accounts to invest directly in Bitcoin.

Last year, the company reported that 90% of its top clients wanted to use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

On September 13, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz stated that Fidelity was apparently working to introduce Bitcoin to its 34.4 million retail investor base.

Local media outlets contacted Fidelity about the new service but received no immediate comment at the time of writing.
