Jack Dorsey Encourages Twitter to Embrace Decentralized Protocols

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has recommended that the social media platform should develop decentralized and anti-censorship protocols like Bitcoin and Nostr. This advice comes in response to Elon Musk's recent decision to restrict the number of daily posts visible to Twitter users.

Dorsey believes that these decentralized systems could alleviate the challenges of managing the platform while also preserving an open internet. His comments acknowledge the immense difficulties and constraints faced by the team running Twitter. He asserts that decentralized protocols will benefit everyone, suggesting it's easier to criticize these challenges from a distance than to confront them directly.

This is not the first time Dorsey has championed Bitcoin. Previously, he pledged $5 million to Brink, a company supporting developers working on the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Conversely, Musk has set a limit to the number of tweets users can view daily, citing it as a temporary measure to counteract the high levels of data scraping and system manipulation. The restriction sparked some criticism among users, some believing the decision is aimed at boosting subscribers for Twitter Blue. Others attribute the move to the company's alleged inability to pay for its cloud services from Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In response to these changes, crypto enthusiasts on Twitter are turning to decentralized alternatives like Damus. This platform touts its user freedom, stating there is no central decision-making. Whistleblower Edward Snowden has also encouraged users to shift to Damus, especially in light of the recent changes on Twitter.
