MetaMask, a cryptocurrency wallet and decentralized application (DApp) provider has introduced a new feature that allows users to purchase cryptocurrencies using various payment methods, including debit or credit cards, PayPal, bank transfers, and instant ACH (Automated Clearing House). The feature, called "Buy Crypto," is accessible through MetaMask's Portfolio DApp or by clicking on the "Buy" button in the MetaMask extension wallet.
Users in over 189 countries can avail themselves of the Buy Crypto feature, which offers more than 90 tokens across eight different networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche Contract Chain, Fantom, Optimis, and Celo. The function generates a personalized quote for each transaction based on variables including the user's location and regional laws. Users will be taken to a third-party provider's website to execute the transaction after choosing a quote, and the money will be transferred directly into the MetaMask wallet there.
MetaMask has previously partnered with organizations such as PayPal and MoonPay to facilitate cryptocurrency purchases. In 2022, MetaMask collaborated with PayPal to allow users to purchase and transfer Ether via PayPal's platform. The integration with MoonPay, announced in March 2023, enables Nigerian users to purchase crypto through instant bank transfers, providing a simpler and cheaper alternative to buying crypto without using credit or debit cards.
MetaMask's Buy Crypto feature aims to provide users with a convenient and user-friendly way to purchase cryptocurrencies with fiat currency, expanding the options for buying crypto and making it more accessible to users around the world.
