Tether Antalpha $200M XAUt Deal is moving forward as both the companies are in talks to raise at least $200 million for a new digital-asset treasury that will buy and hold Tether’s gold token, XAUt. The plan would expand the companies’ work around tokenized gold.
Tether is working with Antalpha, a crypto-finance firm with close ties to Bitcoin mining giant Bitmain, to set up a public digital-asset vehicle whose job would be to accumulate XAUt. The fundraising talks aim for at least $200 million to seed that vehicle, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The move builds on recent collaboration between the two firms.

A dedicated treasury that buys token could push more institutional money into tokenized precious yellow metal. XAUt is a blockchain token where each coin represents physical yellow metal in custody. Stablecoin firm has been moving parts of its reserves into different assets and this plan shows a push to make tokenized yellow metal a larger, tradable reserve asset.
In late September, the company announced its RWA (real-world asset) plans. That release said the firm will offer XAUt-backed lending and build physical vaults in major financial centers to allow easier custody and possible physical redemption of golden bars.
The company positioned those services to broaden access to Tether Gold. The firm already owns a small stake in Antalpha. The stake — reported around 8.1% after its public listing — gives Stable coin company closer ties to Antalpha’s lending and custody work. Paolo Ardoino, has been outspoken about gold as a strategic asset.

Antalpha plans to build physical vaults in major financial centers to hold XAU₮. Its RWA Hub will provide custody, let users redeem tokens for bars, and support XAU₮-backed loans. Antalpha’s vault network will back Tether Gold by giving secure custody and clear processes for physical redemption. Combined with XAU₮-backed lending, the vaults aim to boost liquidity and let institutions use tokenized yellow metal as collateral.
If the vehicle raises $200 million and starts buying XAUt, that could raise demand for the token and push more capital into tokenized commodities. This move can strengthen Tether’s asset mix and XAUt’s market, but it raises liquidity, custody and regulatory questions that Tether must manage with clear disclosures and strong controls to avoid hurting confidence in USDT. Brokers and traders will watch how the vehicle buys and holds gold tokens.
Look for formal filings or statements from both the companies, details about how the vehicle will buy vault token and when the vehicle will be open to public investors or limited to institutions. Also watch for updates on the firm's planned vault locations and any lending products that use token as collateral.
