The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States has started a game-show initiative aimed at assisting investors in making informed decisions "in a fun way."

Last Monday, the Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of Investor Education and Advocacy introduced "a public service effort based on a game show." The program dubbed "Investomania," intends to "assist investors in making educated investing decisions and avoiding fraud."

According to the SEC, the campaign includes a 30-second TV ad, digital quizzes, and 15-second informative videos on crypto assets, margin calls, and guaranteed returns.

The initiative urges investors to conduct due diligence on investments and obtain information from reputable sources in order to fully comprehend the risks before making a decision.

The game show host invites two participants to choose a tile on a video game board with investment possibilities in the TV commercial. Internet whispers, celebrity endorsements, stock advice from your uncle, cryptocurrency to the moon, FOMO, meme stocks, tulip bulbs, guaranteed returns, and market timing was among them.

One of the 15-second films was on cryptocurrency investment. In the video, a celebrity invites investors to acquire crypto assets on their recommendation.

The SEC explained, "After the participants make their selections, the film portrays the repercussions of a good or bad choice in an entertaining and hilarious fashion."

"Investing might appear and feel like a game at times," the SEC stated. "Our public service campaign, 'Investomania,' employs a game show premise to teach investors in a fun way that investing isn't a game and that they should do their homework before making investment decisions."
