Top metaverse News: Web3 platforms launch the Open Metaverse Alliance

Top metaverse News:

Blockchain-based metaverse and Web3 platforms have chosen to join the Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3 (OMA3) to address the industry's interoperability difficulties. The Alliance's four basic values are believed to be transparency, inclusion, decentralization, and democracy.

The collaborative group was established by Alien Worlds, Animoca Brands, Dapper Labs, Space, Superworld, The Sandbox, Upland and Voxels. According to the official announcement, the measures to address interoperability difficulties will be centered on developing standards and promoting collaboration across various Web3 and other industry players.

OMA3 will be developed as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) to enable a transparent and user-centric governance mechanism. It will concentrate its work on metaverse-related subjects such as non-fungible token (NFT) standards, protocols, transferable identities, gateways across virtual worlds, mapping, and indexing.

The Alliance members aim to join the recently announced Metaverse Standards Forum – a consortium of Web3 firms coordinating requirements and support for current standards as well as establishing standards related to the Metaverse.

Sebastian Borget, the co-founder of Sandbox, created an example of a digital avatar to demonstrate the difficulties that OMA3 will work on:

“We want your avatar to be more than just a virtual model of yourself; we want it to carry your notoriety, because anyone on the blockchain can see which NFTs you own, earned, made, or bought, as well as the entire history of transactions and, ideally, the progression/actions you have contributed to over time.”

The announcement pledges to reveal further details about the OMA3's framework during the Global NFT Summit in London on July 22.
