Trezor Issues Scam A

Trezor has issued a warning to its users about a new

phishing attack that is targeting their customers

Attention all cryptocurrency investors! A new phishing attack has been targeting Trezor users in an attempt to steal private keys and pilfer crypto assets.

The scam involves the attackers posing as Trezor and contacting victims via phone calls, texts, or emails, claiming that there has been a security breach or suspicious activity on their Trezor account. Trezor Suite recently suffered a security breach, according to the message. Imagine that all of your possessions are on display.

However, Trezor has issued a warning to its users, urging them to ignore these messages as they are not from Trezor. The company has emphasized that they have not found any evidence of a database breach and will never contact their customers via calls or SMS.

As a hardware cryptocurrency wallet provider, Trezor is committed to the safety and security of its users' investments. It's crucial for investors to stay vigilant and never disclose their private keys or recovery phrases to anyone, no matter how legitimate the message may seem.

According to recent reports, a phishing attack targeting Trezor customers was initiated on February 27th. Users were directed to a malicious domain, which featured a convincing replica of the Trezor website. This fake website prompted users to "Start" securing their wallets, potentially exposing them to further risk.

Trezor Users Beware: Phishing Domain Copies Website to Steal Private Keys

After clicking the “Start” button, users will be prompted to provide the recovery phrase for their cryptocurrency wallet. The term "private keys," also known as "self-custody," is the most crucial component of "being your own bank" by storing your cryptocurrency on a software or hardware non-custodial wallet.

The security of the recovery phase is paramount as if it is stolen, the crypto holdings no longer belong to their original owner.

This news comes shortly after metaverse firm The Sandbox experienced a data breach on February 26th, resulting in a phishing email sent to users.

This is not the first time Trezor wallets have been targeted with phishing attacks. In April 2022, attackers posed as the company, asking users to download a fake Trezor app.

This is a common occurrence, regrettably. 2020 saw a significant data breach at the rival hardware wallet company Ledger, in which more than 270,000 Ledger users' private information was made public.
