Regardless of the ongoing war, pharmacies in Ukraine are embracing

Digital payments, with a prominent local chain accepting payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

ANC Pharmacy, one of the country's largest pharmacy chains, has collaborated with Binance Ukraine to launch cryptocurrency payments using the contactless crypto payment tool Binance Pay.

ANC Pharmacy is now allowing its customers to make quick payments when ordering pharmacy products online, the company stated on January 3.

The pharmacy chain operates over 1,000 pharmacies in Ukraine and has its own online pharmacy service. As per the release, Binance Pay payments will be available in Kyiv first.

The new payment option will be available at ANC pharmacies and ANC Pharmacy-operated stores such as Kopiyka and Shara. "ANC, Kopiyka, and Shara are the first pharmacies in Europe to accept cryptocurrency," the announcement states.

In order to proceed with a crypto payment, users must first download the Binance app and then visit the ANC website. Users will be able to pay with Binance Pay and pick up their items at a preferred location after selecting a product to order online.

Binance Ukraine's representative did not immediately respond to the media outlet's request for comment.

Binance has been aggressively expanding its footprint in Ukraine in recent years. Binance partnered with the Ukrainian supermarket chain Varus in September 2022, letting users to pay for groceries with their Binance Pay Wallet.

Binance Ukraine's general manager, Kirill Khomyakov, told local media outlets in early February 2022 that releasing a Binance Card in Ukraine was one of the company's main priorities for 2022.

According to Khomyakov, crypto payments via services such as Binance Card do not breach Ukrainian regulations because the government does not prohibit crypto-derived transactions. Simultaneously, local regulations prohibit direct payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
