Universal Music Group appears to have lofty hopes for Kingship,

their first-ever NFT group since it registered four patents related to the maestro, the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT.

As per the report, Universal Music Group registered patents on March 31 for "crypto tokens, utility tokens, application tokens, and non-fungible tokens," as well as "internet commerce store operations containing physical and virtual items." The filing has been approved as of this reporting, but it has yet to be assigned to an examining attorney.

Earlier in March, the music firm paid 125 ETH (about $360,000 USD at the time, but over $470,000 USD as of writing) for Bored Ape #5537 and designated it the head of Kingship, the NFT band founded by the Web3, Celine Joshua, the company's founder, remarked in a post,

"It's been a lot of fun and imagination to work on KINGSHIP." I started to push the frontiers of recording industry development, and with KINGSHIP, we're actually inventing what's possible in real-time. The team and I will work with KINGSHIP to polish their concept and establish their own voice, just like we would with any other artist or art. Each group member has a unique tale and character that impacts and adds to the ongoing story of KINGSHIP. We will bring the Apes in KINGSHIP to life through music and events across the metaverse by forming communities, providing utility, and entertaining audiences all around the world."

In other NFT news, Dennis Rodman is set to release his first NFT collection, "Rodman's Barbershop."
