Coin Info

Amp is a digital collateral token made to make value transfers fast and easy, especially in situations where security and irreversibility are important. As security, Amp guarantees the value of any transfer that hasn't been confirmed yet. This can take anywhere from seconds to days. Most of the time, Amp tokens used as collateral are released when consensus is reached for a certain transfer. This makes them available to be used as collateral for another transfer. If no one agrees that the transfer should happen, the Amp collateral can be sold to cover the losses. Amp makes it possible for any pending or future value transfer to get instant, verifiable assurances, so that actions that depend on the transfer can happen right away. When people and businesses use Amp as collateral, they get the security and efficiency of collateral that can be checked on an immutable ledger.

The first time Amp's features as a collateral token were used was in the payments network Flexa. The Flexa Capacity contract is a collateral manager that uses Amp to secure the payments of more than 40,000 merchant locations in the US and Canada. Users bet Amp to get rewards that are paid for by the merchant fees.
