Stratis (STRAX)

Stratis is a blockchain-as-a-service platform that offers several products and services for businesses. These include launching private sidechains, running full nodes, developing and deploying smart contracts, an initial coin offering platform, and a proof-of-identity application. The company also offers cryptocurrency wallets and consulting services for the blockchain.

Stratis runs its own blockchain, which is powered by a native token called STRAX. This token is used to buy and run services like executing smart contracts, paying for sidechains, and staking as collateral to run a Masternode, which is a node on the network that provides a specific needed service.

The platform was announced for the first time in June 2016, and it went live in August of the same year. In November 2020, Stratis launched a new blockchain that uses the STRAX token instead of the STRAT token it had been using before.

Chris Trew started Stratis Group Ltd., the company that makes the Stratis platform, in 2016. He started the company so he could make a blockchain platform for businesses, which he thought was missing from the market at the time. He chose to base the platform on the Bitcoin (BTC) protocol because he thought Bitcoin would become the most popular cryptocurrency, which would mean that its codebase would keep getting better over time.
