Today I want to talk about something that I think is very important for the future of stablecoins and DeFi: USDT launching on Kava. USDT is the most widely used stablecoin in the world, with over $60 billion in circulation. It is backed by reserves of fiat currency and other assets, and maintains a 1:1 peg to the US dollar. Kava is a layer-1 blockchain that combines the speed and interoperability of Cosmos SDK with the flexibility and developer support of Ethereum Virtual Machine. It hosts several DeFi protocols, such as HARD Protocol, Kava Swap, and Kava Lend, that offer various ways to earn with crypto assets. By launching USDT on Kava, Tether is enabling us to use USDT on many interoperable networks, called zones, on the Cosmos ecosystem. This means that we can use USDT as a stable and liquid asset on different chains with low fees and high security. We can also access new DeFi opportunities and services with USDT on Kava and Cosmos.
