Trump's $TRUMP Coin Soars, Hits $7B Market Cap in Just 24 Hours

Re-elected President Donald Trump launched the $TRUMP meme coin on Friday, December 17, and it has already been added to several major crypto exchanges, including ChangeNOW, whose listing announcement was shared on X, offering the token for exchange and fiat purchase right away. Since its debut, the coin has rapidly gained traction, soaring to a market cap of nearly $7 billion. In just 24 hours, it saw a 382% increase, with $9,5 billion in daily trading volume, and has already secured the 27th spot on CoinMarketCap.

$TRUMP Coin: How It Came to Be

Following his election victory, which saw Bitcoin soar past $100,000, President-elect Donald Trump has announced the launch of his own meme coin, $TRUMP. In a Truth Social post, Trump celebrated "WINNING" the presidential election and his upcoming inauguration on January 20, 2025. The coin, inspired by his famous “Fight, Fight, Fight” slogan, which was born after he survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally,  is part of Trump’s growing involvement in the crypto world. 

Developed by Solana, $TRUMP has a supply cap of 200 million coins at launch, with plans to expand to 1 billion over the next three years. The coin is already creating waves, with many speculating that it could challenge Dogecoin’s dominance in the meme coin space.

Trump’s move into meme coins isn’t a huge surprise, considering his previous ventures into NFTs and the launch of a crypto platform last year.
