The consumer electronics behemoth Samsung has announced the launch

Of a blockchain-based security mechanism for its smart devices.

The Knox Matrix system's goal is to strengthen the security of a multi-device environment, with each smart device monitoring others and exchanging access data to simplify login processes.

Blockchain technology is being used for an increasing number of applications, including security and trust-based applications. Samsung, the Korean consumer electronics and software giant, has announced the implementation of a "private blockchain" system to strengthen the security of its smart devices.

The system, dubbed Knox Matrix, was unveiled at the recent Samsung Developer Conference as a redesign of Samsung's current security approach. While the company was short on facts and did not go into depth about the system's inner workings. However, it did explain that it will interconnect the multiple smart devices available on a network to improve security through multi-layered mutual monitoring.

For example, Samsung believes that connecting a phone to another smart device, such as a TV or a smart AC, will protect these devices from being penetrated by any threat.

According to Samsung, its Knox Matrix solution will help simplify login processes across the home because the login status is automatically transferred to devices that need it to join the network. At the same time, it will presumably secure important information from other network devices.

The announcement also mentions that “Samsung Knox Matrix would be able to deliver a uniform security SDK regardless of whether your Samsung devices are based on Android, Tizen, or the other OS. Samsung did not reveal the system's debut date or specs.”

Samsung has been involved in incorporating hardware security designed specifically for blockchain and cryptocurrency-based systems. As early as 2019, the company incorporated a wallet with hardware-based private key security in its flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Knox, the security system offered at the time, is the forerunner to the technology Samsung recently unveiled. In addition, the company has been active in the non-fungible token (NFT) space, teaming with six different companies in August to launch its own Galaxy-branded NFT ecosystem.
