Tim Sweeney, the founder and CEO of Epic Games, says that his company "certainly won't" follow the lead of the creators of Minecraft by outlawing non-fungible tokens (NFTs).”

As CoinGabbar earlier reported, the developers of Minecraft, Mojang Studios, on Wednesday banned NFT integrations because they consider the speculative nature of NFTs, as well as their scarcity, risks of exclusion, and potential for fraud, to be against the game's core principles.

Fortnite, the highly popular battle royale game, which is sometimes considered as a Metaverse platform, was developed by Sweeney's company. Although the CEO of Epic Games said the company isn't necessarily in favor of cryptocurrencies or NFTs, he added that the company doesn't want to enforce any views on its users.

“Game developers should be allowed to choose how to develop their games, and you should have the freedom to decide whether or not to play games. I think retailers and the developers of operating systems shouldn't impose their opinions on others. We won't, without a doubt.”

A Twitter user responded to the tweet by asking Sweeney whether Epic Games had a different policy on "hateful/discriminatory stuff" than this. Sweeney responded by saying that despite the fact that Epic Games does make "editorial" judgments, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) do not currently fall under them.
