Tokyo, April 16-17, 2025 – The TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025, Japan's biggest Web3 and AI event, was held to great success over two thrilling days at Toranomon Hills, Tokyo. This international event saw industry leaders, technology firms, investors, and innovators come together to talk about how blockchain, Web3, and AI are redefining the digital world's future.
This year’s event brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to talk about the future of Web3, AI, digital payments, stablecoins, NFTs, gaming, and more. With Japan playing a major role in these areas, the TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025 helped shine a light on how technology is changing the way people live and do business.
The first day of the TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025 began with important discussions regarding the future of Web3, online payments, investment concepts, and important policy shifts that would impact the entire crypto universe.
One of the highlight sessions was on the soon-to-come Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, where Web3 will be implemented in real-world applications. A major emphasis was placed on the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet, which allows visitors to collect NFTs and SBTs, and even pay using a token valued at 1 yen each. Moderator Yuki Kamimoto, CEO of N.Avenue Inc. shared that the wallet works smoothly, and it’s already helping people enjoy the Expo in new ways.
Yoshida, CEO of HashPort, added that the wallet uses a point system where users can collect experience points and increase their chances of winning lottery entries to different Expo pavilions. This framework demonstrates how Web3 can provide real-world benefits.
During another session, Mai Furukawa, co-founder of XRPL JAPAN, presented XRP and the XRPLedger (XRPL). She described how XRP is now more trusted in Japan since the SEC lawsuit was settled. The XRPL has been operating for over 10 years, provides quick and inexpensive transactions, and is excellent for businesses since it does not utilize smart contracts. Many Japanese creators are using XRPL to build NFTs and join XRPL contests, offline events, and global expos like the one coming up in Singapore.
Satsuki Katayama, a top government official, talked about how global tariffs and economic changes, especially under a possible Trump presidency, could affect Japan’s Web3 and AI sectors. She said Japan should stay neutral and focus on building systems like the digital yen and international stablecoin rules. Her message was clear: Japan must stay prepared and flexible as the tech and trade world shifts fast.
Yusuke Otsuka, Executive Officer at Coincheck, and Yuzo Kano, CEO of bitFlyer, praised Japan’s friendly legal environment for Web3. They think that with improved support for token
Jun Watanabe, Sony Block Solutions Labs Chairman, presented the Sony U Layer 2 blockchain based on Ethereum. It helps with copyright protection and aims to spread Web3 tech in the entertainment world. This project is gaining interest both inside and outside Japan.
Also, Aditya Tallapragada, the head of AKT HEAKTH, talked about how blockchain is changing healthcare. His company utilizes blockchain and devices in conjunction to allow users to be the owners of their health data and get rewards in terms of tokens or NFTs. They also plan to introduce a marketplace sometime this year.
On the second day, the TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025 continued with another series of powerful sessions. Discussions focused on Tokyo’s digital economic future, secure Web3 systems, new investment styles, the next generation of Web3 games, and how Japan fits into the worldwide Web3 and AI movement.
Yoann T., co-founder of Wintermute, said Asia—and especially Japan—is becoming the center of Web3 funding, thanks to new rules and big companies like SBI and MUFG getting involved. He shared that fundraising now uses creative methods like token-equity hybrids and long-term liquidity deals. He also highlighted the growing connection between AI and crypto, and the importance of funding real-world projects with strong social impact.
Ryo Matsubara, CEO of Oasys, focused on Web3 gaming. His blockchain platform has brought global giants like Sega, Ubisoft, and Bandai Namco into the space. Additionally, “Yukichi.fun,” Japan’s version of Pump.fun, was introduced by Oasys and launched over 300 tokens.
Matsubara said the future of Web3 gaming is not about copying video games but creating totally new types of play using blockchain.
They’re also experimenting with tokenizing real-world collectibles like Pokémon cards, allowing people to trade and own these items on the blockchain.
Ken Kodama, CEO of EMURGO, talked about Japan’s progress with stablecoins after changes in law last year. SBI now supports USDC in Japan. These digital coins are being looked at for use in securities, tourism, and daily shopping. But some problems, like remittance limits, still exist. Kodama highlighted that Japan needs to build real use cases and stay competitive globally in the stablecoin space.
During a reflective session, Tomoyuki Hisanaga of The Sandbox Japan and Kensuke Amou of Animoca Brands Japan explained how they're facilitating the transition of companies from Web2 to Web3 in a smooth manner. According to them, most individuals are still Web3 beginners, and hence, the process needs to be gradual and helpful. They also emphasized that a mix of both Web2 and Web3—what they call a hybrid strategy—will work best going forward.
At the end of the two-day TEAMZ summit, Tianyu Yang, CEO of TEAMZ, gave a warm thank you to everyone who joined, sponsored, or supported the event. He explained how Japan's culture and technological innovation are now intersecting in fresh and interesting ways through Web3 and AI. He also officially announced the date of the next summit—TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2026 will be on April 15–16, 2026.
The TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025 wasn't just another tech conference. It was where strategies were hatched out of ideas, and where people from different fields met to build a wiser, decentralized world.
