Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard was initially associated with the metaverse but the focus appears to be on business communications despite being on gaming. CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella focused on using metaverse applications in business, productivity tools, meetings, and games, particularly within Microsoft's Teams communication platform. In October 2022 metaverse concept seemed downplayed during the deal's completion, with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer expressing caution about it. However, Microsoft is planning to integrate crypto wallets into Xbox as suggested by the leaked internal documents, indicating a stronger interest in cryptocurrency within the company. Signalling a potential crypto-related future for the company this move could extend to Microsoft's new gaming assets.
