Metropolitan Museum to Return $550K Donations from FTX Exchange

Metropolitan Museum will reimburse FTX Exchange for $550K in donations

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has announced its plan to return $550,000 in donations received from cryptocurrency exchange FTX. These donations were made before FTX's collapse in November. The museum intends to repay the funds to FTX debtors through negotiations in the United States Bankruptcy Court. FTX, which filed for bankruptcy in Delaware, had distributed a total of $93 million in donations between March 2020 and November 2022. Among the politicians who received funds from FTX, only around 19 out of approximately 180 have returned or expressed their intention to return the donations. The largest recipient was the "Protect our Future PAC" with approximately $27 million.
