China's most popular social media app, Sina Weibo, has removed the accounts of over 80 influencers who were promoting cryptocurrency activities, citing violations of eight rules. This move, announced on September 5th, targeted influencers with more than 8 million followers collectively. These influencers were accused of breaching rules related to telecommunications, finance, banking, online marketing, securities, exchanges, and internet safety in their cryptocurrency-related activities. It's worth noting that Sina Weibo boasts over 258 million daily active users. This action reflects China's ongoing regulatory efforts to control cryptocurrency-related activities on social media platforms.
