zkSync Era Launches Boojum: Improved Proof System for Ethereum Scaling

zkSync Era, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, has launched Boojum, a new proof system that aims to improve throughput and reduce costs. Boojum, based on a Rust-based cryptographic library, allows regular users with 16 GB of GPU RAM to participate in network activity. Previously reliant on zk-SNARK, Boojum's zk-STARK-based system offers greater transparency and processing capabilities, promising to surpass the current 100 TPS rate. Boojum will wrap STARK proofs with a more cost-effective SNARK, reducing storage requirements and verification costs. Currently undergoing testing on the zkSync Era mainnet, the system will be upgraded without regenesis.
