Aleph Zero Launches Its EVM-Layer on Mainnet

Aleph Zero EVM Layer-2

Aleph Zero EVM Layer-2 Launches with zkOS Privacy Tools

Zug, Switzerland, August 12th, 2024, Chainwire

Aleph Zero has launched a new, super-fast layer-2 network that works with Ethereum. It adds more privacy tools and new apps for the world’s biggest web3 system.

Aleph Zero is a blockchain made for speed, privacy, and easy building. Today, it announced the mainnet launch of its new EVM-compatible Layer-2 network. This big step brings Aleph Zero into the Ethereum world, helping more developers use its zkOS privacy tools.

The Aleph Zero EVM Layer-2 was built with Gelato, a top Rollup-as-a-Service provider, using Arbitrum Orbit technology. This setup makes the blockchain very quick and smooth. It has a block time of just 250 milliseconds and finishes transactions almost instantly. The network can handle thousands of transactions each second, making it one of the fastest EVM-based chains today.

“Aleph Zero EVM uses Arbitrum Orbit’s strong scaling system and great developer tools to build the best privacy-focused blockchain around. Privacy will be a big topic in 2024 and beyond.”  Luis Schliesske, Founder of Gelato

The Layer-2 uses Aleph Zero’s Substrate-based WASM Layer-1 blockchain for data storage and security. This makes the system strong and decentralized, supported by more than 190 validator nodes.

The AZERO token will be used for gas fees on the new Layer-2, just like it is on the Layer-1.

zkOS Features Coming to Aleph Zero’s EVM Layer in Q4

zkOS is Aleph Zero’s new privacy tool that makes it simple to add confidential features to blockchain apps. It fits Aleph Zero’s goal of making privacy tools easy for everyone to use. Tests show zk proofs can be made in less than one second on normal computers.

zkOS brings all of Aleph Zero’s privacy tools into one easy kit for developers. It doesn’t need deep math or coding skills. zkOS fixes problems like slow proof times, hard-to-use privacy tools, and weak multisig options. By making zero-knowledge proofs faster, zkOS helps apps add privacy features easily and at low cost.

“EVM’s big user base and great tools help us grow zkOS faster and bring it to more users beyond Bitcoin. It adds more choices for developers and users.” — Adam Gagol, Co-founder of Aleph Zero

The first apps being built on Aleph Zero EVM include:

  • pieces.market – a luxury real-world asset marketplace.

  • Syncra – a DAO service with private voting.

  • Upcade – a web3 gaming hub.

  • Rarible – the NFT marketplace.

  • DRKVRS – a multiplayer RPG game.

  • idOS – a private identity system.

  • Tubbly – a walk-to-earn game.

Introducing vib3s

vib3s is another project on Aleph Zero EVM. It helps sports and entertainment brands connect better with their fans through Web3.

This ready-to-use platform lets companies quickly launch fun, loyalty-based apps. They can be changed to fit any brand’s needs.

vib3s includes a newsfeed, crypto wallet, on-chain points, fan games, branded cards, and cashback rewards. It also protects privacy and follows GDPR rules.

vib3s is powered by Aleph Zero, the Upcade hub, and tools from Holyheld, Thirdweb, idOS, and others. The first big project will launch this month in Europe.
