NEAR Protocol has jumped more than 84% in a single week, and the move has a clear trigger. On September 17, the network turned on "confidential by default" perpetual futures trading built with Hyperliquid. The launch pushed the token to $4.43, a 27% gain in 24 hours alone.
Trading volume spiked more than 120% in a day. For a project that has spent years building infrastructure, this is the kind of demand spike that gets attention fast.
Current market snapshot:

Source: CoinMarketCap Official
Price: $4.43, up 27% in 24 hours
Weekly gain: 84.39%
Market cap: $5.78 billion
24-hour volume: $2.32 billion, up 106%
Circulating supply: 1.3 billion NEAR tokens
Holders: roughly 13,880 wallets
Bitcoin gained just over 1% in the same period, which makes the gap hard to miss. One well-known market commentator described the project's growing role in linking chains like Solana and Zcash as a "silk road" for liquidity.
Two things happened at once. First, the network turned on confidential perpetual trading. Second, an incentive program tied to a $3.33 price target kicked in, rewarding holders with tokens that convert to NEAR if price holds above that line for 72 hours. That created real buying pressure, not just hype.
Total value locked in the ecosystem is nearing $190 million. A separate $1 million NEAR airdrop to NEARKAT holders added extra fuel.
Co-founder Illia Polosukhin called the strategy "playing non zero sum games," pointing to how the network is pulling liquidity from across the crypto market rather than competing for a fixed slice of it.
The new product lets traders open leveraged perpetual contracts without exposing the link between a wallet, its funding source, and its open positions. Hyperliquid supplies the order book, execution engine, and liquidity, covering more than 50 markets with up to 40x leverage.
Deposits and funding route through a private shard connected to the mainnet by a trusted execution environment bridge. That keeps the public order book untouched while shielding who owns which position.
Traders sign in with passkeys, skip seed phrases, and fund from more than 35 blockchains through NEAR Intents, which auto-converts deposits into USDC.
The product is not open to U.S. persons or other restricted regions. It also builds on an earlier Confidential Intents rollout that had already crossed $70 million in TVL before this launch.
How NEAR Protocol Compares to Other Privacy Trading Platforms 2026
Crypto privacy trading 2026 is not a one-project story. Several networks are building toward the same goal in different ways, and each takes a different path to get there.
Paradex: private perpetuals and options on a Starknet appchain, using zk-encrypted state so positions and profit or loss stay hidden.
Secret Network: private smart contracts secured by trusted execution environments, powering a full ecosystem of shielded swaps and lending rather than a single trading venue.
Oasis: confidential computation through TEE-based runtimes, built more for enterprise and data-heavy use cases than retail trading.
Zcash and Monero: the established leaders in pure transaction privacy, both posting sharp gains during the broader 2026 privacy rally, though neither functions as a trading venue.
Where NEAR Protocol stands apart is practicality. Instead of building a new order book from scratch, it layers confidentiality on top of Hyperliquid, a venue that already handles enormous trading volume.
Momentum is not stopping at this one launch. NEAR Protocol has a mainnet upgrade, version 2.13.0, moving through its rollout, and it brings two notable changes.
Post-quantum signing support is designed to keep transactions secure against future quantum computing threats. Dynamic resharding adjusts how the network splits its workload across shards in real time.
Integrations with wallets and browsers, including support flagged by Brave, are also part of a broader push to position NEAR Protocol around practical, everyday crypto use rather than short-term trading alone.
None of this removes the usual risks. Leveraged trading can wipe out capital fast, and privacy features do not remove liquidation risk or smart-contract risk. Anyone considering the product should check the current terms directly through official channels before funding an account.
