Why is SpaceX stock rising this week

SpaceX stock is back in the spotlight this week. Shares of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX) jumped 4.45% on Monday, closing at $146.23 after adding $6.23 in a single session.

The move followed a wave of institutional filings and fresh SpaceX news that pushed the SPCX share price back toward the key $150 level. In after-hours trading, the SPCX stock price slipped to $145.90.

Investors now want a clear SpaceX price prediction for where SPCX heads next, especially with another large batch of insider shares set to unlock this week.

$SPCX has had a wild ride since its record-breaking IPO in June 2026. The stock, priced at $135, spiked above $225, then fell to $108.27 in early August before clawing back most of its losses.

That kind of swing is normal for a young mega-cap still finding its footing, but it also means any SpaceX stock price prediction right now comes with a wide range of outcomes.

Why is $SPCX stock rising this week? Latest SpaceX stock news

SpaceX posted second-quarter revenue of $7.81 billion, above the roughly $6.9 billion analysts expected, with net loss narrowing sharply from a year earlier.

AI segment revenue jumped over 200% year on year, and the Starlink-driven Connectivity business added more than a million net subscribers.

The company also set a launch record, sending two Falcon 9 rockets up just 38.5 minutes apart, and confirmed a partnership with Nvidia to build Starmind AI1, an orbital AI computing satellite using Nvidia Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs.

Fresh 13F filings added more fuel. Harvard Management Company disclosed a $2.2 billion stake, its largest single U.S. holding. Intesa Sanpaolo holds a $966 million stake in SpaceX, and the University of California disclosed roughly $1 billion.

Nvidia itself holds about $21 billion of SPCX stock. SpaceX also closed its previously announced $60 billion acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor, adding another growth angle to the story.

What is the SPCX lock-up and why does it matter?

Lock-up expirations matter a lot for a stock this new. On August 6, roughly 911.5 million insider shares became eligible to trade, more than doubling the public float. Many traders expected a sharp sell-off. Instead, the stock rose more than 6% that day.

Now a second tranche is arriving. Roughly 319 million more shares are set to unlock this week, adding fresh supply right as SPCX presses against resistance near $150.

Elon Musk's stake of about 6.4 billion shares stays locked until mid-2027, so the largest holder is not a near-term selling risk.

SpaceX stock price prediction: technical setup

On the daily chart, SPCX keeps getting turned away near $150, a level close to the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement of the swing from the $225.59 high to the $104.87 low.

The 14-day RSI sits around 57.7, above its signal line near 46.7, pointing to improving but not overheated momentum. A daily close above $151 could open the door toward $165.23 and then $179.48.

A rejection here could send the SpaceX share price back to test $133.36. As long as price holds above $133, the recovery structure stays intact.SPCX/USDT PRICE

SPCX price prediction: what are analysts saying?

Wall Street is split. UBS has a Buy rating and a $210 price target, pointing to Starlink growth and AI demand. Phillip Capital set a $75 target with a rare Sell rating, citing heavy losses and negative cash flow expected until around 2030.

Across roughly 30 analysts, the average 12-month target sits near $222 to $228 with a consensus Buy rating, though individual estimates range from $62 to $800.

Will Tesla and SpaceX merge? What the odds show

Part of the buzz involves Kalshi prediction markets, where traders price the odds of a Tesla-SpaceX merger.

Recent readings put the chance of a deal before 2028 somewhere between 60% and 71%, though the number has moved around a lot and no formal merger has been announced by either company.

This is a betting market reflecting trader sentiment, not a confirmed event, and independent forecasting panels tracking the same contracts have shown noticeably lower odds. Any real merger talk would likely move both stocks sharply.Kalshi prediction markets

SpaceX stock price prediction: what to watch next

The next few sessions matter. This week's 319 million share unlock is the immediate test, followed by more lock-up tranches later this year and Musk's shares in mid-2027.

Q2 results already showed real revenue growth and narrowing losses, and the Starmind and Cursor deals add weight to the AI story.

Whether $SPCX can clear and hold $150 to $151 may say a lot about near-term direction, while a slip under $133 would suggest buyers are losing conviction.

Outcomes could go either way depending on how the next lock-up and the November earnings report land.
