Altman has finally acknowledged the Chinese AI startup’s technological abilities.

He expressed his thoughts about the recent developments and DeepSeek competition. He said, “DeepSeek’s r1 is an impressive model, particularly for what they’re able to deliver at the price. We will obviously deliver much better models and also it’s legit invigorating to have a new competitor. We’ll pull up some releases.”

He also said that “more compute is more important now than ever before to succeed at our mission,” and that they “look forward to bringing you all AGI and beyond.”

Sam Altman has been impressed with DeepSeek, acknowledged its strengths, and also shared their plans for the company and the roadmap ahead. Co-founder of OpenAI, Altman shared his view that the growing demand for AI would leave users amazed by the next generation models, and highlighted the crucial role of computational power in advancing artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, DeepSeek AI unveiled the release of its latest open-source AI model. The model has been designed for the purpose of revolutionizing the multimodal capabilities. The model outperforms benchmarks set by OpenAI's DALL-E 3 and Stable Diffusion.

DeepSeek recently surged to the number one position on the Apple app store. While the company’s large language models or LLMs appear comparable to market leaders like OpenAI and Meta, its claims of costing a fraction to train and develop the competitive AI models is shaking not just the US tech stocks, but also the global markets.

This impacted AI coins significantly, and is also held responsible for Monday's market crash. 

As per the recent DeepSeek news, there has also been a DeepSeek AI cyber attack in place. 

The Chinese startup DeepSeek triggered a $600 billion rout for Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) on Monday. Altman commented on DeepSeek’s recently launched r1 model, while sharing his long-term vision.
