Hedera Mainnet Upgrade Tomorrow: Key Details

The Hedera blockchain team has officially confirmed that the mainnet update to v0.65 will happen tomorrow. This major update will, however, introduce three main improvements: first, strong state management capabilities; second, enhanced control over the fees of scheduled transactions; and third, a major advancement toward fully optimized Block Streams.

• Virtual Mega Map: The Virtual Mega Map refactors Hedera's internal state data structure, unifying singletons, queues, and maps into a singular virtual map. With all entities unified under one root hash, the network enjoys an advanced level of verifiability, and state and block item proofs get the highest level of efficiency, especially for block streams.’

• HIP-991: In v0.65, with HIP-991 improvements, the update brings support for max_custom fees in scheduled transactions, which provides topic operators using HCS with greater control over fee management. This improvement increases the predictability of the fees while aligning with HTS and offering guardrails to developers, thus improving the network's efficiency and ease of use.

• HIP-1056 and HIP-1127: HIP-1056 and HIP-1127 continue building on the Block Stream foundation of Hedera with the introduction of a Unified Transaction Record that streamlines transaction representation and eliminates historical duplication. This results in improved performance, scalability, and reduced state size, all while ensuring seamless compatibility with existing applications.

HBAR Price Surges: Will This Uptrend Sustain?

In anticipation of the looming Hedera Mainnet Upgrade, the HBAR token price has taken a significant bullish reversal, recovering from the recent downturn.

HBAR has been consolidating within a tight range recently, but yesterday's opening price of $0.2400 represents a strong 80% recovery from its yearly low. Today, the token has surged by a marginal 1.5% but is still down from yesterday’s high.
