Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced his recent adoption of the female Moo Deng hippo, causing a huge jump in the meme coin MOODENG price.

The details have been shared by none other than the Khao Kheow Open Zoo of Thailand. The MOODENG meme token on Ethereum hence jumped about 70% in an hour, while trading volume rose by 275%.

Vitalik has joined the Wildlife Sponsorship Program in addition to adopting the famous pygmy hippo Moo Deng. This will support the Wildlife Adoption Project of the zoo which is busy with a layout plan spread over 1,600 square meters of total build-up area. 

The moo deng Christmas donation is to be completed in two installments, one half of which is to be made by today itself. Vitalik has sent his ETH, as well as meme coins he received, to charity. The Ethereum co-founder not only appreciated donations made by meme coins in the form of direct supply to charity, but even suggested a DAO or direct engagement with charity.

MOODENG has jumped over 70% in the past one day’s time with price trading at $0.0001942. Trading volume, as discussed, has also risen 300% meanwhile. All this indicates huge trader interest.

Trading has also risen in the derivatives market. The total MOODENG futures open interest increased 9% in just 4 hours, the 415.61 million futures OI now valuing at $115.42 million.

Noteworthy Solana-based token MOODENG price is, however, down by over 1%, dropping to $0.2772 in the past 24 hours.
