Pi Network has officially launched its first ever hackathon in the Open Network era giving developers a chance to build real world apps that will add real utility to the ecosystem.
The competition started on August 21 and will run until October 15, 2025 with a total prize pool of 160,000 tokens.
At the time of writing the coin is trading at $0.3672 and fell 0.75% in the past 24 hours.
The coin's recent weakness comes from technical pressure with MACD that is showing a bearish crossover and RSI close to oversold, as per the data of CoinMarketCap.

Over 167M tokens set to unlock in August may add supply stress while low liquidity amplifies volatility. However today’s slight rise of 1.05% is a positive sign that is likely boosted by the official starting of Pi Hackathon 2025 which could drive stronger utility and future price momentum.
The event comes with an open-ended theme that allows the developers to explore any use case as long as it integrates Pi Network in a meaningful way.
Whether through payments, digital identity, or community-focused apps, the emphasis is on bringing genuine value to Pi Network users.
Teams can submit up to two apps, and while wallet integration isn’t required at the start, it will be needed for ecosystem listing.
Registration began on August 15 and over 2,100 developers from more than 100 countries have already signed up. Around 900 developers are still looking for teammates and showing strong interest from the global community.
Teams of any size can participate but every member must complete the Pi Network KYC process to qualify for rewards.
1st Place: 75,000 tokens
2nd Place: 45,000 tokens
3rd place : 15,000 tokens
Honorable Mentions(up to 5 teams): 5,000 coin each
Developers will have until October 15 to submit their final apps via the Developer Portal along with a demo video. A midpoint check-in is scheduled for September 19 that is offering mentorship opportunities, early exposure and community feedback.
Hackathon 2025 marks a big step for the system and encourages the builders to turn ideas into real apps. With thousands of developers participating the event could shape how it is used in everyday life.
