Other Important Terms

Circulating supply

The number of coins circulating in the market and in public possession. It is identical to the stock market's flowing shares.

Hash rate

The hash rate measures the efficiency and performance of a mining equipment in the context of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. It specifies the speed with which mining gear attempts to compute a valid block hash.

Layer-2

Layer-2 is a secondary structure that is created on top of a layer-1 blockchain. Layer-2 solutions are used by developers to boost throughput by remote-sourcing activities from the layer-1 blockchain. Third-party layer-2 solutions are frequently developed to complete tasks independently of the layer-1 blockchain. Because of this isolation, layer-2 solutions are sometimes referred to as "off-chain." Layer-2 systems, on the other hand, rely on the layer-1 blockchain's security and decentralization. The "scalability trilemma," which states that enhanced layer-1 scalability diminishes security and decentralisation, is resolved by layer-2 solutions. Layer-2 solutions that are commonly used include state channels and hierarchical blockchains.

Fiat Currency

The term fiat currency refers to any government fund that can be used as a legal tender. This type of currency isn't backed by a commodity and enables central financial institutions, such as banks and governments, to control the amount of money printed. Due to government regulations, fiat money has no internal value and can suffer from hyperinflation. Fiat currencies are value stores, exchange methods, and account units. Processing fiat currency transactions require more time than done with cryptocurrency, and there may be higher costs associated with trading. Many modern paper currencies, such as the Indian National Rupee - INR, U.S. Dollar, and Euro, are fiat currencies.

Anti-Money Laundering

The term AML is an acronym for 'anti-money laundering.' AML stands for anti-money-laundering policy and regulation. This prohibits funds obtained unlawfully from being turned into a legal variant. AML procedures are increasingly being adopted by exchanges and wallets in the crypto sector. This word is also known as AML/KYC, in  which stands for 'know your customer.'
