Malaysia Blockchain Week Launches, Advancing National Web3 Vision

Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025

Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025 Powers Web3 Leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Aug — Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025 (MYBW) officially concluded its second inaugural event to roaring success. The event, organised by Lydian Labs, drew 6,834 visitors from 92 different countries across schedule-packed days, of which 20% were international visitors keen to gain further insights from Malaysia’s foray into Web3.

Held at the World Trade Centre KL on 21–22 July, the event featured 170 speakers, 68 sponsors, and over  90+ side events– from main event keynotes, panels, exhibitions, and launches to networking opportunities, private dinners, and even leisure pickleball matches– providing a uniquely engaging experience for all– visitors, partners, and sponsors alike.

“This isn’t just another gathering. It’s a clear signal that Malaysia is ready to lead. The foundation has been laid, and now is the time to move forward with purpose. The time for action is now. Let us build boldly, innovate fearlessly, and shape the future together.” -- Noelle Lee, Co-founder of Lydian Labs.

WHEN PUBLIC POLICY AND PRIVATE SUPPORT COMES TOGETHER

MYBW saw power engagements between the public and private sectors. Government ministries such as the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and Ministry of Digital were enthusiastic in their vision for Malaysia’s bright future within the Web3 industry, with real discussions towards Malaysia’s role as an industry leader within the region.

MOSTI aims to position Malaysia as a regional digital hub in blockchain technology, a move which is aligned with the Ministry’s goals, and which would further solidify Malaysia’s growing reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most promising blockchain and Web3 hubs, underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to nurturing an open and forward-thinking digital economy. They aim to do this with the launch of the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), that took place at MYBW2025.

“This is the essence of Malaysia’s MADANI vision: where innovation meets compassion, progress is guided by trust, and technology serves all levels of society. Blockchain is increasingly relevant across sectors like finance, supply chains, halal traceability, and public services.” – YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Minister of Digital YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo also took part in the Blockchain Industry Roundtable to discuss the unprecedented opportunities posed by blockchain for the country. In a closed-door meeting, the minister sat with industry giants and thought leaders alike to better understand the strategies that would set Malaysia apart.

“I emphasised the need to truly understand the opportunities ahead for the local blockchain industry, as well as the challenges that must be addressed to foster a truly conducive environment for growth, innovation, and investment in Malaysia.” – YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital.

This Roundtable marks a milestone in the direction Malaysia will be taking with blockchain technology, with key points discussed such as potential action plans for the near future. The government is committed to developing and implementing the right policies and strategies that complement the existing ecosystem to propel Malaysia to the forefront of the global blockchain revolution– all within the next five years, a sign that the Malaysian government too sees limitless potential in this burgeoning industry.

FROM MY TO THE WORLD

Global Web3 leaders such as Dominik Schiener, Co-Founder of IOTA; Alex Svanevik, CEO of Nansen.ai; Katie Mitchell, Director of APAC International Policy of Coinbase; Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget; Yoann Turpin, Co-Founder of Wintermute and more took to the stage alongside Malaysia’s top innovators, sharing exclusive insights on decentralised infrastructure, crypto adoption, AI x blockchain synergies, and the evolving regulatory landscape– providing a unique perspective from international stakeholders.

As Malaysia strengthens its place on the global blockchain map, MYBW continues to be a catalyst for cross-border collaboration, startup momentum, and policy alignment. The overwhelmingly positive response from attendees—ranging from developers to founders, students to investors—signals strong momentum for Malaysia’s digital future.

“With the conclusion of MYBW 2025, we hope this shines a brighter light on Malaysia and what she has to offer—not just as a host, but as a launchpad. From here, we aim to see more businesses thrive, foreign companies and talent onshore into Malaysia, and most importantly, real progress in how the nation approaches regulation and innovation in the crypto space.” -- Dr Ian Tan, Co-founder of Lydian Labs.

More content from MYBW will be released in the coming weeks, allowing everyone to relive the energy of MYBW– from visitors wishing to reminisce to future attendees shaking off the FOMO. Stay tuned via our official channels to stay up-to-date.
