Ethereum News on September 29, 2026 centers on a faster cross-chain confirmation path built with Chainlink CCIP 2.0 and the Ethlabs Fast Confirmation Rule. Two large treasury players, SharpLink and BitMine, also made fresh moves. An early holder trimmed a long-held stack as well. Which of these signals matters most for the network?

Ethlabs says adding its Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR) to Chainlink CCIP 2.0 cuts confirmation from about 13 minutes to 12 to 24 seconds. The team describes this as roughly 30x faster.
FCR draws quick action signals from the validator consensus the network already runs. Ethlabs says this extends the existing security model to cross-chain transfers without extra infrastructure or new economic assumptions.
The practical gain goes to bridges, market makers, and liquidity providers. Shorter waiting periods mean less idle capital, lower costs and smaller risk exposure. Note that this is a fast path. It does not replace full finality.

Accuracy matters here. According to BSCN, the fast rule has no staked ether at risk if it fails. It depends on the network running normally, and in rare cases a fast-confirmed block can still be reversed.
That is why CCIP still waits the full 13 minutes by default, in line with Ethereum's full finality. Token issuers can decide how much value to place on the fast route. They may also charge extra fees to cover the added risk. Users and issuers therefore choose between speed and certainty.

Lookonchain reports that SharpLink Gaming staked another 42,074 ETH today, worth about $112.8 million at the reported valuation. Its total holdings now stand at 892,127 coins, valued near $2.4 billion.
The company has also collected 27,945 coins in staking rewards, worth roughly $75 million. A position this size shows how corporate treasuries can hold an asset and put it to work at the same time, which is central to the institutional staking story. Readers can check the wallet activity on the Arkham entity page for SharpLink.

Tom Lee BitMine now holds more than 6 million coins after buying 17,362 more. The firm's stated goal is to own 5% of the total Ethereum supply.
The same post estimates BitMine is about 98.3% of the way there, roughly 103,000 coins short. Treat that as the company's stated objective and a community estimate. It is not a guaranteed outcome, and the timing is unknown.

An early Ethereum holder bought 3,000 coins at $18.80 about eight years ago, roughly $56,500 at the time. The address sold another 1,000 today for about $2.68 million.
In total, it has sold 2,000 coins at an average price of $3,096, about $6.19 million, and still holds 1,000, worth around $2.67 million. It puts total profit at $8.8 million, a 156x return. That is the analytics firm's own calculation, not an independently verified realized gain.

| Development | Latest Update | Why It Matters |
| Confirmation Rule | 12 to 24 second confirmation | Faster cross-chain activity |
| SharpLink staking | 42074 coins staked | Large staking position |
| SharpLink holdings | 892127 coins | Major treasury exposure |
| BitMine | 17362 coins bought | Holdings above 6 million |
| Early holder | 1000 coins sold | Large long-held movement |
10:34 UTC: An early holder reportedly sells 1,000 coins.
13:42 UTC: SharpLink reportedly stakes another 42074 coins.
September 29 BitMine latest update: 17362 coin purchases and 6 million-plus holdings.
September 29: Ethlabs announces its FCR integration with CCIP 2.0, targeting 12 to 24 second confirmations.
Three separate stories shaped the day. On infrastructure, FCR and CCIP 2.0 offer a quicker route for cross-chain movement, with the slower default kept for safety. On institutional activity, SharpLink and BitMine continue to build and stake large positions.
On-chain, an early holder reduced part of a position held for eight years. Each item is a data point, not a forecast. None of them promises a market move.
