Ethereum Price Today: Coin Rises 2.6% as Traders Assess Momentum

The ETH price today sits near $2,453.53. Market cap is close to $299.3 billion, and 24-hour trading volume is $11.8 billion. That is healthy activity for a 2.6% move.

The bounce came right after a large short trade failed. A trader opened a $32.72 million short on 13,830 coins on October 19, with an entry near $2,366. He added to it when the price dipped to $2,387 and set no stop-loss. The rebound liquidated the position, leaving about $140,000 of a $1.25 million balance.

This is useful context, but the data does not prove the liquidation caused the rise. Any Ethereum news prediction built on one event would be guesswork.

Bitmine Stakes Another $390 Million in Ether as the Queue Grows

Lookonchain reports that Bitmine, led by Tom Lee, staked another 159,728 ETH, worth about $390.6 million. Its total stake is now about 5.23 million ETH, worth $12.78 billion. That is 86.5% of its reported holdings.

EmberCN adds that the Ethereum network has 1.33 million ETH waiting to enter staking, with a wait of more than 23 days. Only about 149,000 coins are leaving, with a wait under four days.

The gap suggests strong demand to lock coins. It is not a guaranteed price signal. Staked coins are locked up, which can reduce supply on exchanges, but markets move for many reasons.

Ethereum Staking Hits 43.8 Million ETH, but Yields Fall to 2.63%

Bitwise says Ethereum staking reached a record 43.8 million coins, or 35.9% of supply. Net inflows were 1.99 million coins, the sixth straight quarter of growth. Yet the yield slipped from 2.81% to 2.63%.

This is a basic trade-off. More locked coins make the Ethereum network harder to attack, but rewards are shared among more validators. Bitwise also notes validator counts fell from about 1.1 million to 881,000 as operators consolidated under Pectra. Fewer validator records, the same coins behind them.

Staking yield is not the same as price gains. It is paid in ether, so its dollar value still moves with the market. For readers following the latest Ethereum update, this is the key point: security is rising while returns are shrinking.

Nine-Year Ethereum Holder May Lock In a 151.7x Return

On-chain data shows an address pulled 3,000 ether from Gemini about nine years ago. That was worth $56,400 then, an average cost of about $18.82 per coin. The holder began sending coins to exchanges in August 2025. Nine hours before the report, the last 1,000 coins went in at an average price of $2,874.17.

If all of it were sold, profit would be about $8.566 million, a 151.7x return. That math assumes a full sale. Exchange deposits alone do not confirm one, and the coins could be moved again. Large holders can also move coins for custody reasons.

Drift Exploiter Moves $109 Million in Ether to Tornado Cash

Onchain Lens reports that the Drift Protocol exploiter sent about 44,510 ether to Tornado Cash over two days. On October 20, 25,710 coins (about $63.04 million) moved. On October 21, another 18,800 coins (about $46.11 million) followed. Onchain Lens lists the wallet addresses in its post.

Such transfers matter for fund tracing and security teams. They do not prove the money was successfully hidden. They also have not been shown to move the Ethereum coin price.

Conclusion: What Ethereum Developments Mean Today

Today’s Ethereum news mixes a rebound, record staking, falling yields, possible whale selling, and suspicious transfers. Together they give context, not a forecast. Watch the entry queue, exchange flows, and Ethereum update news for clearer signals.
