The 2026 event has a big change. For the first time, Blockchain Beach moves to a university. The new place is Università degli studi 'G. d'Annunzio' sede Pescara, Viale Pindaro 42. This new campus spot shows the event is growing and gaining more support from schools and groups. Before, the event was known mostly for its seaside location.

Pitch Battle: Blockchain Beach's Startup Competition

Blockchain Beach holds a Pitch Battle. This is a contest where startups share their Web3 and crypto ideas. Teams show their projects to judges from the industry, incubators, and the Camera di Commercio Chieti-Pescara.

In 2023, the first winners were Matteo Carolla and Max Datsun. Their project was called Pizzafi. They won a spot in a growth program run by Lhevo and Innovalley. This program helped them plan their business, find money, and set up their company, per Lanternaweb.it (September 2023). Both the 2023 and 2024 events had a Pitch Battle. Blockchain Beach Edition History: From 2023 to 2026

Blockchain Beach has happened every year since 2023. It grew from a small first event into a crypto summit the EU now knows about. The table below shows how it grew over four years.

Erasmus+ Recognition: Blockchain Beach Goes European

In July 2026, the European Commission called Blockchain Beach a best practice. It was picked for Erasmus+ program funding through the EU #BB project, per SpazioCrypto (8 July 2026). This is one of the biggest signs of trust in the event's four years.

The EU #BB project will run for 24 months. It starts in September 2026 and ends in August 2028. Groups from Italy, Spain, Cyprus, and Belgium are working together on it. About Officina DeFi: Who Organizes Blockchain Beach?

Blockchain Beach is run by Officina DeFi (full name: Officina DeFi Associazione di Promozione Sociale). Davide Pietrangelo started it in 2021 as an Italian crypto and DeFi group on Telegram. How to Get to Pescara: Travel & Logistics Guide

By air: Pescara has its own airport, Abruzzo International Airport (PSR). It is about 4 km from the city center. For flights from far away, you can also land at Rome Fiumicino (FCO) or Rome Ciampino (CIA). Then take a train to Pescara — it takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. Book your flight early for September. The Adriatic coast is a popular late-summer spot, so prices go up fast.

Venue and local transport: The venue, Università G. d'Annunzio sede Pescara, Viale Pindaro 42, is in central Pescara. You can walk to the shore and the city center from there. Pescara has good public buses. Taxis and rideshare cars are there too. You can walk from the campus to the shoreline path. This way, you can enjoy the coast while you attend the event, just like people always have.

Visas: Italy is part of the Schengen Area. If you are from an EU or EEA country, you do not need a visa. If you are from outside the Schengen Area, apply for a Schengen visa early, before September. No official visa letter service has been announced for this event.

This word describes the next kind of internet. It is built with blockchain. It lets users own their own data and digital things. Web3 projects make up a big part of the Blockchain Beach exhibitors and speakers.

Expo Floor

This is the part of an event where companies set up booths. They show off their products, services, and projects there. At Blockchain Beach 2025, more than 70 companies filled this space.

Pitch Battle

This is a contest. Startup teams share their business ideas with judges in a set time. They compete for prizes or a spot in a growth program. Blockchain Beach has held a Pitch Battle every year since 2023.

a.p.s. (Associazione di Promozione Sociale)

This is an Italian legal type for non-profit groups that do social work. Officina DeFi has been an official a.p.s. group since 2023.

Erasmus+

This is the European Union's program. It helps with school, training, young people, and sports across Europe and partner countries. Blockchain Beach was picked for Erasmus+ funding in July 2026 through the EU #BB project.

Schengen Area

This is a group of 27 European countries, including Italy. These countries do not check passports at their shared borders. Travelers from outside this area need a Schengen visa to attend events in Italy.

NFT (Non-Fungible Token)

This is a one-of-a-kind digital item stored on a blockchain. It often shows who owns digital art, collectibles, or virtual items. The 2025 Blockchain Beach event had a Digital Art and NFT Gallery put together by Gea Vision.
