Who can attend this event?

ETHGlobal events are for developers and builders who want to create or contribute to projects during the hackathon.

How much does it cost to attend?

The event is 100% free for attendees (including food). However, we do require hackers to 'stake' a small amount of cryptocurrency to confirm their spot so that we can ensure that we're able to process our waitlist of attendees accordingly. This stake is fully returned to you as long as you participate in the hackathon and submit a project - or even a partial project - at the close of the event.

Can I start working on my project before the event?

No. In the interest of fairness, attendees should not be working on their projects before the hackathon begins and we do not allow participants to work on pre-existing projects. However, you can familiarize yourself with all the tools and technologies you intend to use beforehand!

If I’m working on my project before the hackathon begins, will I be eligible for partner prizes?

ETHGlobal is not involved in the selection of any partner prizes and this is managed by the relevant internal team. Partners are able to award prizes to any project submitted on their technology and that meets the requirements of that prize bounty.

When must I stop working on my project?

Once projects have been submitted and submission has officially closed, you should not be working on your project again until PRIZES have been officially paid out / distributed

Do I need to submit an application if I'm already part of a team?

Yes. Everyone on a team needs to apply and stake separately as an individual. Each application is reviewed on an individual basis regardless if you are part of a team.

What do I do if I staked my spot but my dashboard is still asking me to Stake?

This could be an error on our end. Please send us an email at hello@ethglobal.com, provide a link to your successful transaction and we will get it taken care of!

Can I get a visa letter invitation?

Yes! Confirmed hackers that require a visa letter invitation will be provided one. Please send an email to hello@ethglobal.com including your DOB, Passport number and full name (as displayed on passport)

Can I apply for a mentor or volunteer role if my native language isn’t English?

Yes! As our community grows, we are interacting with more and more parts of the world where English is not the dominant language. Speaking a language other than English and helping with translations is very critical for the success of our events and the community as a whole.
