Hedera Africa Hackathon 2025

Empowering Africa's Blockchain Future

The Hedera Africa Hackathon 2025, hosted by The Hashgraph Association and the Exponential Science Foundation, is shaping up to be Africa’s largest Blockchain Innovation challenge. Running from August 1 to September 30, it combines in-person events in over 20 major African cities—including Lagos, Cairo, Nairobi, Kinshasa, Cape Town, Casablanca, and Tunis, with a global online hacking track. With a US$1 million prize pool, the hackathon aims to engage more than 10,000 developers, students, and entrepreneurs in building decentralized solutions on the energy-efficient Hedera network to tackle real-world issues across finance, healthcare, sustainability, identity, gaming, and more. Participants will benefit from technical education, certifications, and mentorship from Hedera-certified engineers, all in pursuit of scalable and impactful Web3 applications

About the Organizer

The event is led by the Hashgraph Switzerland Association, which supports the growth of Hedera Hashgraph technology worldwide. They focus on building real-life blockchain solutions, and this hackathon is their biggest step into Africa yet.
