Pi Network News: Why Pi Ventures Backs AI and Robotics

Pi Network News Today: Can a $100M Fund Change PI’s Future?

Pi Network news today centers on a $100 million bet that robots and AI can give $PI a job beyond mining. The Pi Foundation launched ventures fund in May 2025.

Pi Network Ventures

A recent post on X on October 23 from analyst Christian Parker calls it the most effective blockchain VC fund right now, citing Axis Robotics and OpenMind. The token itself is calmer. $PI trades at $0.07962, up 1.2% in 24 hours.

Pi Network News Today: What Pi Network Ventures Is Backing in AI

The fund targets startups that add real-world use to the Pi network ecosystem, according to the official ventures page. The network began in 2019 as a mobile-first project where users mine by opening an app each day. Pi mainnet opened to outside connectivity and trading in February 2025. Its pitch is a large base of verified humans that apps and payment tools could reach.

The Pi network venture capital arm now looks at AI, robotics, gaming, fintech and e-commerce firms. Those companies could accept PI for payments or tap its node network for computing power.

Pi Network news from the project’s own blog backs the idea with figures:

  • Engaged Pioneers: 60 million+

  • KYC-verified users: 18.1 million

  • Mainnet apps: 300+

  • Nodes: 420,000+

All four numbers are self-reported, per the summit announcement.

Axis Robotics and OpenMind: The Portfolio Behind the Airdrop Buzz

The portfolio snapshot in the post lists three names:

  • OpenMind (Fabric Foundation): builds OM1, an operating system pitched as Android for robots, plus a protocol for robot identity and coordination. The network’s fund joined after a $20M round led by Pantera Capital, per a Pi blog post. A proof of concept also ran image recognition on PI nodes.

  • Axis Robotics: raised a $12M seed round led by Hack VC with Nomad Capital, as PitchBook tracks it. The firm crowdsources robot training data through simulation.

  • CiDi Games: a strategic round in entertainment, travel and gaming.

Project reports also name Fabric Foundation as a future $PI payment partner for robot services. That rollout is still ahead. The latest Pi Network news adds one caution: public detail on check sizes and portfolio progress remains thin.

How the Pi AI Approach Meets Protocol 28 and the November Summit

The Pi AI approach is not only about funding. Pi App Studio lets creators build in tools such as Cursor, Replit or Lovable, then add the SDK, sign-in and $PI payments through tailored prompts, per the project blog. The logic is blunt. AI makes building cheap, so reaching users is the hard part.

The base layer is changing too. Pi Protocol 28 went live on Mainnet in mid-October with batch upgrades for smart contracts, and the public Horizon endpoint shows core version 28.0.1.

Next comes the first Pi Network ecosystem summit, an online event on November 17 to 19. The agenda lists:

  • Platform releases and developer updates

  • Live demos and app showcases

  • Talks with the Core Team

  • A new hackathon

Payments remain the open question. A test version of the OUSD stablecoin runs on $PI’s testnet with no real value. The official partnership with Open Standard, announced September 30, still has no date or contract address. The Core Team says any stablecoin would sit beside $PI, not replace it, as its stablecoin post explains.

Pi Coin Price Today: Market Data, Volatility and Key Risk Factors

For readers tracking Pi crypto news today, the $PI coin price today looks steady. Figures from CoinMarketCap as of October 23:

Pi Coin Price Today

  • $PI coin price: $0.07962 (up 1.2% in 24 hours)

  • Market cap: $899.19M

  • 24-hour volume: $2.98M

  • Fully diluted valuation: $7.96B

  • Circulating supply: 11.29B of 100B $PI

Only 11% of supply circulates, so future unlocks could weigh on any demand gains. Bitcoin price swings kept the wider market muted, and PI’s gain lacks a clear catalyst. Traders appear to be positioning ahead of the summit.
