Coinbase and Samsung are set to launch stablecoin services during the last week of October 2026. The dollar-backed token will be the default option for eligible U.S. Galaxy users. The big question is what people can actually do with it.
| Key Detail | What Users Need to Know |
| Launch | Last week of October 2026 |
| Initial market | United States |
| First stablecoin | USDC |
| Eligible devices | 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices |
| Custody | Coinbase Prime Vault |
| Infrastructure | Bastion, with blockchain support from partners |
| International transfers | Eligible bank accounts in 60+ countries |
Both companies point to the last week of October 2026. Neither has given an exact day, so treat that window as the plan. Samsung Electronics America announced the feature on October 7, and Coinbase followed on October 8. The first release is for eligible Galaxy users in the U.S. only. Expansion to other markets may come later, depending on local rules.

Users who tap "Buy Stablecoin" will see USDC as the default dollar option. From there, they can send it to compatible crypto wallets. The company says these transfers carry no transfer fees, though it attaches footnotes to that claim. Check the fine print for network or recipient costs.
Eligible users can also send money to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries. Recipients may get local currency, and they do not need a crypto wallet. No extra app is needed to use the feature. Transfers require biometric authentication on a registered device.
Bastion is a licensed stablecoin custodian overseen by U.S. financial regulators. It runs the payment framework behind the feature. Bastion has named the exchange as its sub-custodian, so the funds are held through Prime Vault. The exchange says it uses NYDFS-qualified custody services for this.
This is not self-custody. Users will not manage private keys themselves. That is easier for beginners, but it also means users rely on the companies involved to safeguard the funds.

The exchange says the token is designed to be redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars. It is backed by cash and short-dated U.S. Treasuries, with monthly attestations published. The company also reports that USDC circulation grew 72% in 2025 to more than $75 billion. Wallets holding it rose 59% to nearly 7 million.
Those numbers show demand. They do not guarantee safety or stable value in every situation. More stablecoins may be added later, but it is the only one at launch.
| Partner | Main Role |
| Coinbase | Powers the stablecoin experience and provides custody through its Prime platform |
| Bastion | Supplies stablecoin infrastructure, custody and payment services |
| Sui | Blockchain infrastructure with gas-free transfers |
| Solana | Blockchain infrastructure for supported transfers |
The Sui Foundation says the wallet chose Sui as an infrastructure partner. Only USDC is supported at first, and SUI tokens are not. The phone maker names Solana and Sui as network partners for the service.

The main change is convenience. Stablecoin wallet features will live inside a wallet that many Galaxy owners already use. There is no separate crypto app to set up. The launch covers about 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices, which gives the token a large audience.
Future uses may include paying with stablecoins online or by tapping a Galaxy device in stores. Those plans are not confirmed and depend on development and regulation.
July: The exchange added Samsung Pay as a payment option in its app.
October: The partnership grew to include membership benefits inside the wallet.
October 7, 2026: Samsung announced stablecoins features for its wallet.
October 8, 2026: Coinbase said it will power USDC as the default dollar stablecoin.
Last week of October 2026: Planned U.S. launch for eligible Galaxy users.
Later: Possible expansion to more markets.
The key development is USDC moving into a mainstream mobile wallet. For Galaxy users, the practical gain is simpler cross-border transfers without extra apps. The first release is still limited by eligibility, device support, regulation, and a basic feature set. Watch for the official launch details before planning any transfer.
