Which comes first: verified identity, or a working trading platform?
Until now, both were tied to the same milestone. Strings Network KYC and the trading platform were both pointed at 2 million users. A new clarification from the project splits that timeline and it's worth understanding exactly what changed.

Per the project's own post, Strings Network preparations are complete, and its own authentication system is now in testing. The stated aim is to open KYC before the network hits 2 million users, once that system is ready.
That's a shift in sequencing, not a full reversal. Previously, identity check and the trading platform moved together toward the same 2-million-user target. Now the project is separating them.
Here's the current picture, per official statements:
Feature | Current Status |
Strings mining | Live |
Account verification (mining) | Already part of the network |
New verification system | In testing |
KYC launch date | Not yet announced |
KYC before 2M users | Project's stated aim |
Third-party verification option | Possible, involves a fee |
Strings' own KYC | Preferred, intended to stay free |
Trading portal | Still tied to the 2M-user milestone |
Trading of eligible balance | Not live yet |
It's easy to assume faster account verification means faster trading. That's not what's stated.
The trading portal remains planned for the 2-million-user milestone, separate from Strings Network KYC. Verified users won't get access to trading through the portal simply because account authentication opens early — that piece stays where it was.
Strings' site already describes account authentication as part of its existing mining system, per official info. The new layer is a separate identity step, sitting between that existing authentication and the eventual trading portal.
Why the Portal Is Paused
Strings says it's temporarily pausing trading portal development to focus on identity check testing. That's a resourcing choice, not a setback.
Per the official clarification, the reasoning includes:
Community requests for earlier account verification access
Its own identity check system already being tested
A third-party provider could move faster, but at a fee
The project's stated preference for free account identity check for everyone
Strings' website reports over 140,000 nodes created and users across more than 180 countries, figures the project attributes to itself rather than an independent source. Prioritizing free, in-house Strings Network KYC over a paid shortcut fits that stated scale.
What Remains Unanswered
No exact date exists yet. Strings says it will announce the launch once testing finishes — that's the extent of the timeline so far.
Open questions worth tracking:
Will account verification open to everyone at once, or in batches?
What documents will verification require? Strings' privacy policy currently says it doesn't collect government ID numbers
What counts as an "eligible balance" once trading opens later?
Do mined and referral balances both qualify, or only some?
Strings Network KYC is in testing, aimed at launching before 2 million users, while the trading portal itself stays tied to that milestone. No date is confirmed yet. Watch for Strings' own announcement once testing wraps up.
