XRP News Today: Ripple SEC price jump

XRP News Today Two Major Headlines Hit, but the Timeline Raises Doubts

Two big stories landed within hours of each other, and the chart jumped. Ripple told the U.S. SEC that it supports a proposed crypto rulebook, and one of Europe’s biggest banking groups opened crypto trading to its savings-bank customers, with this coin on the list.

XRP News Today covers each story on its own, shows what the chart did, and checks the timing honestly.

Fresh Price Update: The Coin Jumps 2.63% to $1.33 After a Low Near $1.29

According to live market data, the coin was trading near $1.33, up 2.63% over 24 hours, after bouncing from a low near $1.29.

The chart opened near $1.30 and slid to about $1.29 in the afternoon, around 3:20 PM on the chart’s clock.

Around 7:30 PM it jumped about 3% in roughly an hour and peaked near $1.34. It then pulled back to $1.31, climbed again, touched about $1.338 around 4 AM, and has held between $1.32 and $1.34 since.

Trading volume rose almost 16%, and about 2% of the coin’s total value changed hands.

Readers following XRP news today will want to know whether the two stories below caused this move, and we check that in the timing section.

Ripple Backs the SEC’s Proposed Crypto Rulebook

The SEC is the main U.S. market regulator. Ripple filed its comment letter on the SEC’s proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, a rule that would exempt certain digital asset offerings from full securities registration.

According to The Block

The letter says Ripple “fully supports the Commission’s efforts” and urges the SEC to adopt the proposal as a final rule.

The official comment period closed on October 20, but the SEC will keep accepting feedback afterward, according to journalist Eleanor Terrett.

Information by Stuart Alderoty on X

In his thread, Ripple’s chief legal officer Stuart Alderoty made five points:

  • Ripple supports the proposal, and the SEC has clear authority to adopt it.

  • Years of “case by case, coin by coin” enforcement pushed innovation overseas.

  • The proposal follows Howey, a long-standing court test, which treats the investment contract as the security, not the token.

  • What matters is what an issuer promised and when those promises end, not a subjective “decentralization” test.

  • Ripple spent more than $150 million to get legal clarity.

The proposal is from August and would allow some offerings of up to $75 million. It also reports that the rule is still only a proposal, with no final adoption date. Ripple’s support is not an SEC decision.

German Savings Banks Get a Crypto Option Powered by Deka

The second story comes from Germany. According to DekaBank’s official press release dated October 19, 2026, it is launching "Krypto—powered by Deka” for customers of the Sparkassen, Germany’s savings banks.

Detail

What the press release says

Coins at launch

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Polygon

Fee

€0.99 per order

Where

Inside the “Sparkasse” app, in the “Invest” area

Who

Adult customers who make their own decisions

Safety

Deka holds the coins and keys, and has held a BaFin license since 2025

Two details matter. First, the rollout is gradual over the coming months, and each Sparkasse decides on its own whether to offer it.

Second, the €452 billion in assets and 6 million accounts in the post belong to the Deka Group overall, not to the crypto offer.

So the post’s picture of “one of Europe’s biggest banking ecosystems” describes the potential reach, not today’s users.

Did the News Move the Price? Matching the Posts to the Chart

Here is the honest timeline. Posting times are our own estimates, taken from the posts’ ID numbers, and the chart clock is local:

When (estimate)

What happened

Price

About 3:20 PM

The day’s low

About $1.29

About 3:45 PM

The BankXRP post on Deka appears

About $1.29

About 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM

The sharp jump

$1.30 to $1.34

About 4 AM

Alderoty’s thread appears

About $1.34

About 6:40 AM

The Block’s post appears

About $1.335

The jump came hours after the Deka post and before the Ripple posts. Ripple filed its letter on October 20, so the filing could have happened earlier than the thread.

Neither story lines up cleanly. Anyone following XRP news today should treat any single reason for the jump as a guess.

What to Watch Next

  • Whether the SEC moves toward a final rule after reviewing the comments.

  • Which Sparkassen switch on the new offer, and when.

  • Whether the coin holds above $1.32 or slips back toward the $1.29 low.

  • Whether trading volume stays busy.

Conclusion

Two real stories and one strong jump make a tempting headline, but the timing does not prove cause.

The Ripple letter is a supportive comment on a proposal, and Deka’s rollout is gradual and optional for each bank.

For XRP news today, the smartest approach is to follow the confirmed facts and ignore the hype.
