Base TVL All Time High Crosses $6.26B, Beats Arbitrum

Base TVL all time high figures are the biggest story in crypto news today, after DefiLlama data confirmed that Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2 network has crossed $6.26 billion in total value locked.

The update was first flagged by crypto research account BSCNews on X, which noted that Base's supply has also climbed to $5.1 billion, a figure larger than Arbitrum, Polygon and the XRP Ledger individually.

As of September 27, 2026, DefiLlama's live chain dashboard shows Base network TVL sitting at $6.271 billion, up 1.14% in 24 hours.

Why Is Base TVL All Time High Right Now?

According to DefiLlama Base TVL data, the headline Base TVL $6.26 billion figure ranks among the largest for any Ethereum Layer 2 to date.

The chain's bridged TVL, which includes native and canonical assets, has reached $21.115 billion.

Key figures from DefiLlama as of today:

  • Total Value Locked: $6.271 billion (+1.14% in 24h)

  • Stablecoin Market Cap: $5.102 billion (+0.46% in 7 days)

  • Bridged TVL: $21.115 billion

  • Active Addresses (24h): 309,525

How Does Base's Stablecoin Supply Compare To Rivals?

Base's $5.102 billion base is now bigger than Arbitrum's, Polygon's and the XRP Ledger's individually, based on DefiLlama's stablecoin trackers.

This is what analysts mean when they say Base beats Arbitrum numbers this cycle, and it is also visible in the raw Base vs Polygon TVL gap on the side.

Arbitrum Stablecoin

Polygon Stablecoin

XRP Ledger

This Base vs XRP Ledger gap alone is over $3.9 billion, one reason this is trending across crypto news this week.

What Is Driving USDC Supply On Base?

USDC supply on Base remains the biggest single driver of the chain's base, making up 84.5% of all stablecoins tracked.

Coinbase's direct fiat-to-Base pipeline, letting users move USDC straight from their exchange account, is widely credited for fueling Base ecosystem growth 2026.

The Coinbase Base L2 network also recorded $635.23 million in 24-hour DEX volume, led by Aerodrome, Morpho and Uniswap deployments on the chain.

BSCNews also covered this news in a tweet, writing that the Base ecosystem is "booming" after the network's TVL and supply overtook several older chains. BSCN Official Tweet

Expert Opinion

Analysts suggest that the Base TVL all time high comes as flows increasingly concentrate on chains with direct exchange integration, which could help the network challenge older Layer 2s for overall DeFi dominance in coming quarters.

However, they caution that this heavy USDC concentration on Base could expose it to redemption pressure if broader market sentiment shifts, and that current growth may not sustain at the same pace.
