Joseph Lubin Becomes First Bearer of  Torch

The purpose of the digital torch is to pay tribute to the people, concepts, and principles that have influenced the Ether ecosystem since its inception in 2015. The ceremonial first bearer is Joseph Lubin, the creator of ConsenSys and a co-founder.

The release states that until July 30, the Non-Fungible Tokens, also known as "The ETH Torch," would move daily between wallets. In celebration of the event, a new Non-Fungible Token will be made available for anybody to mint publicly and freely.

The Ethereum NFT trading volume's increase mirrors the rise in ETH's price, which has risen nearly 50% since July 6.
