Forma Chain Shutdown: Team Announces NFT Migration Plan

Forma Chain Shutdown: NFTs Move To Ethereum L1 Soon

Forma Chain Shutdown: From NFT Migration to User Funds Transfers

Forma has announced the phased shutdown of its blockchain. On July 25, 2026, the team behind the network announced they are winding it down step by step, saying the project is no longer sustainable to keep running.

The Forma chain shutdown marks the end of a blockchain built just for onchain art and NFTs.

Forma Chain Shutdown Details

The platform called itself "the Playground for Creators." It built a network just for onchain NFTs and digital art, not general crypto use. The blockchain ran as a sovereign rollup, meaning it processed its own transactions instead of leaning on a bigger blockchain.

It used Astria, a sequencing tool, to order those transactions, and Celestia, a network built to store transaction data cheaply, to hold that data.

The platform's gas token was TIA, the same token Celestia uses. Its main product, Modularium, worked like an art fair where creators sold onchain art and kept most of the revenue.

The team called the platform shutting down a "careful" decision, not a rushed one. They said running a dedicated network costs more than it brings in right now.

Two products sit at the center of this move. Modularium and Forma-NFTs will both migrate to Ethereum Layer 1, giving them a more stable long-term home.

Forma NFT Migration Ethereum Move: What Holders Should Know Next

Two core products will migrate to Ethereum after the Forma chain shutdown. Modularium and NFTs both move to Ethereum L1, the main Ethereum network that settles transactions directly.

  • NFTs stay fully intact and remain accessible after the move

  • Holders can trade them on OpenSea, a popular NFT marketplace, or other Ethereum markets

  • Modularium keeps running as a display and trading layer

  • No funds get frozen as part of this shift, per the team

This Forma NFT migration Ethereum plan trades blockchain ownership for something more stable, since Ethereum L1 offers access to more buyers and liquidity than a small standalone chain ever could.

Forma Bridge Withdraw Steps For $TIA Funds Still Left On The Blockchain

Anyone holding TIA or other funds on the platform should act early on this Forma chain shutdown. The Forma-Bridge, the official tool for moving assets off the platform, lets users pull funds out directly.

  • Withdraw funds through the Forma-based Bridge as soon as possible

  • Unwithdrawn funds get manually shifted to a future EVM-compatible chain, a network built to run the same type of smart contracts as Ethereum

  • The replacement blockchain and its timeline get announced later

  • Artists should contact the team directly for next steps

This TIA funds migration process covers every user. Users should withdraw through the official Forma-Bridge as soon as possible. The platform has not yet announced the final deadline, replacement chain or manual migration procedure.

TIA Price Today

Despite the fact that the project announced its shutdown, the TIA token surged today, up 2% at $0.349. Market cap sits at $321 million while daily trading volume stands at $13.8 million.

The surge today is mainly calculated from the overall crypto market, which is slightly strong today. Bitcoin also gained 1.33%, reaching $65,155.

Forma Blockchain Closing 2026 Fits A Wider Industry Pattern

Forma is not alone. BitMart, a mid-tier crypto exchange, recently confirmed its shutting down in months-long phases. Just days before this, BitMEX, also announced its closure effective from 23 September, 2026.

As per RootData, a site that tracks crypto project activity, counted dozens of shutdowns by late July 2026, and this Forma chain news adds one more name to that list.

Exchanges, wallets, and other app-specific chains have closed for similar reasons this year. App blockchain failures crypto trackers suggest a common trend: smaller chains built during stronger markets struggle once fees and usage fall short of running costs.

Sophon, another blockchain project, shifted onto Base, a platform built on Ethereum, instead of keeping its own chain running. This crypto project shutdown 2026 trend, and this NFT platform shuts down story specifically, both protect the assets while closing the smaller chains underneath them.

What’s Next?

Smaller chains keep folding into bigger, more liquid networks, and the Forma chain shutdown fits that pattern closely.

Holders who withdraw early and follow official updates should get through this change without much trouble, and the next marker to watch is the new EVM-compatible blockchain announcement for any funds left behind.

In practical terms, this may include forensic imaging guidance, digital artifact collection, timeline reconstruction, and the identification of indicators of compromise that can support law-enforcement engagement and potential civil or criminal proceedings. By emphasizing proper documentation and chain-of-custody practices, the approach helps ensure that recovered data and investigative findings remain usable in legal contexts. In addition to technical support, the inclusion of crypto recovery lawyers strengthens the engagement by translating investigative outputs into actionable legal strategies. Such strategies may involve reviewing available claims, advising on jurisdiction-specific procedures, preparing formal filings, supporting subpoenas or discovery requests where applicable, and assisting with coordination across stakeholders. This legal integration is particularly relevant for crypto-related incidents, where recovery often depends on the ability to connect on-chain activity, wallet behavior, and exchange interactions to identifiable parties through lawful processes. The involvement of private investigators further enhances coverage by enabling structured background inquiries and targeted verification of leads. Real-world recovery cases frequently require more than technical analysis; they may involve tracing communication patterns, validating identities, and confirming connections among accounts, devices, and entities associated with the loss.
