XRP price rises 6% toward $1.45, with $2 target in focus

XRP is having a strong week. The token jumped more than 6% and is now trading close to $1.45. That move has traders asking the same question again: can XRP price finally reach $2 this month?

XRP today is one of the most searched terms in crypto news today, and it's easy to see why.

The answer depends on a few big events lined up in September. A Senate vote on crypto rules, a Fed rate decision, and a fresh jobs report all land within days of each other. Any one of them could move the market.

XRP Today: What Is XRP Trading At?

As of September 3, 2026, XRP sits around $1.451, up 6.08% on the day. Futures volume over the past 24 hours hit roughly $6.10 billion, while spot volume came in near $1.45 billion.

Open interest rose 7.86% to $3.33 billion. That points to more traders opening new positions rather than closing old ones.

Liquidations tell a similar story. Over 24 hours, $11.34 million in positions were wiped out, and $9.04 million of that came from short sellers. That kind of imbalance usually means price moved faster than short traders expected.

The long/short ratio sits at 0.9716 overall. But on Binance and OKX, the ratio for top accounts climbs above 2, showing more traders leaning bullish on those platforms.

XRP News Today: Why Did XRP Price Jump This Week?

Part of the rally traces back to steady whale buying. Wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million XRP added about 380 million XRP recently, based on on-chain data.

Spot XRP ETFs have also helped. Cumulative net inflows reached close to $1.57 billion by late August. Daily inflows have cooled off but stayed positive, pulling in $6.14 million recently, with Franklin's XRPZ fund leading at $3.19 million.

August itself was choppy. XRP briefly touched near $1.70, then slid back to around $1.36 before this week's bounce.

What Is the CLARITY Act and Why Does It Matter for XRP?

The CLARITY Act is a bill meant to set clearer rules for digital assets in the United States. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has pushed hard for it, saying the crypto industry needs clear rules to grow in the US.

Garlinghouse responded to CFTC Chairman Michael Selig after a White House meeting with crypto and finance leaders, saying making America the crypto capital of the world is within reach. Selig had said the goal is building the next era of finance on American soil.Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has pushed hard

The bill has been delayed by fights over ethics provisions, DeFi rules, consumer protections, and stablecoin yields. Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture before the August recess, setting up a vote when senators return.

The Senate cloture vote is scheduled for September 15 at 2:15 PM ET. It needs 60 votes to beat a filibuster, and Republicans hold 53 seats, so some Democratic support is required.

There's a catch. The House has canceled sessions for the last two weeks of September and breaks by September 17 for midterm election prep.

That timing puts final passage into law this month at real risk, even if the Senate approves it. Odds on Polymarket for the bill becoming law in 2026 have dropped as a result.

Will the Fed Rate Decision Move XRP Price?

The Fed meets on September 16, one day after the Senate's CLARITY Act vote. According to CME Group's FedWatch tool, markets currently see close to a 50% chance of no rate change, up from about 40% the day before.

Friday's jobs report comes first and could shift those odds. A weak report often raises rate cut bets, which tends to support risk assets like XRP.

XRP Price Prediction: What Do the Charts Show for XRP Price Today?

XRP broke above daily resistance and is showing a bullish breakout pattern. Some analysts describe the setup as a bull flag, following the run from around $1.00 up toward $1.55, then a calmer sideways period.

Support sits in the $1.35 to $1.40 zone. A daily close below $1.35 would weaken the bullish case.

On the upside, holding above $1.43 to $1.45 and then clearing $1.55 on strong volume could open the door to $1.70, then $1.90, with a longer-term target near $2.17 to $2.19.

Analyst Ali points to an accumulation zone between $1.31 and $1.38 where more than 4.8 billion XRP changed hands. An hourly close above $1.38 could confirm a bullish flag breakout.

On weekly charts, XRP trades below the 50-week EMA near $1.53 but above the 20-week EMA near $1.28. That's nearly three weeks of tight, range-bound trading.

The weekly Stoch RSI has climbed toward 88, close to overbought territory but not fully there yet, which leaves some room for another push toward the 50-week EMA.

Clearing the 50-week EMA convincingly could put $1.80 in play as the next target. Until then, the broader trend stays under pressure, and multiple weekly closes below the 50-week EMA would raise the risk of a deeper pullback.

XRP News Prediction: Is $2 Realistic This Month?

A move to $2 is possible but not guaranteed. It would likely need a clean break above $1.43 on strong volume, plus supportive news from the jobs report, the Fed meeting, or the CLARITY Act vote.

If XRP instead loses the $1.33 to $1.35 support zone, a drop toward $1.27 becomes more likely.

None of these levels are locked in. Traders watching the XRP price this month should keep an eye on three dates: Friday's payrolls data, the September 15 Senate vote, and the September 16 Fed decision.

For now, XRP today remains one of the top movers in crypto news today, and that is unlikely to change before those events pass.
