Researcher Justin Drake asked the industry to calmly plan for "bunker mode." He said it is reasonable to prepare for ECDSA, the signature system behind Ethereum wallets, breaking before quantum computers arrive. In the worst case, that could happen in months. His advice is to move funds to fresh addresses that have never signed a transaction. Signing a transaction reveals your public key, while an unused address keeps it hidden behind a hash.
Vitalik Buterin agreed the risk deserves attention but urged calm. He does not want anyone to scramble to new wallets today. He warned that botched migrations have cost him more money than all hacks combined.
He also said lattice-based systems such as ML-DSA may face new pressure, which is why Ethereum news roadmap leans toward hash-based signatures. For multisig wallets, he suggests collecting signatures off-chain.
This is a possible future risk. It is not an active exploit on Ethereum today.

Lookonchain reports that trader Machi Big Brother holds a 39,025-token long worth about $99.8 million. Its liquidation price is $2,501.38. That sits roughly 2.3% below the current price. If the token falls that far, the forced sale could add selling pressure and speed up the drop. This is a short-term trading risk. It says little about Ethereum news or long-term fundamentals.

On-chain analyst Ember reports that pinosaur.eth sent 9,618 tokens to Kraken. The wallet first withdrew 7,459 tokens from Bitfinex in April 2017, when coins cost about $50. If everything is sold, the estimated profit is $24.21 million, a return of about 65 times. A deposit to an exchange does not prove a sale. Still, traders often watch such moves closely.

Demand from large players continues. BitGo Bank & Trust now offers Lido ETH staking to eligible U.S. clients, who can stake ETH, hold stETH, and redeem it on the same platform. The service launched for clients in Europe and Asia in July 2025.
Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee says the firm will stop buying after it reaches 5% of supply. It holds 6,016,414 tokens, about 4.9%, and needs roughly 100,000 more. At last week's pace, that could take six to seven weeks. Bitmine bought $41 million of the token last week and holds about $643 million in cash and marketable securities.

According to CoinDesk, Glamsterdam activated on Sepolia on October 6. The block gas limit rose from about 60 million to nearly 200 million, more than triple the old level. In sampled blocks, real usage ran from 52 million to 92 million, or 26% to 46% of the limit. All 32 scheduled blocks were produced, and 99.97% of eligible staked weight joined finality votes. The next Hoodi test is tentatively set for October 27.
The upgrade may allow more transactions per block. However, the network has not yet faced a full high-demand test.

Ethereum News today shows both strength and risk. Institutional staking, steady Bitmine buying, and upgrade progress support the long-term story. Leverage, whale transfers and early cryptography worries add short-term uncertainty. Staying informed and avoiding rushed decisions is the safest path.
