What Is the Bitcoin Award?

The Bitcoin Award 2026, hosted by the Swiss Bitcoin Conference, is set to take place on April 25, 2026, in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. This prestigious event honors outstanding contributions to the Bitcoin ecosystem across four categories: Community, Education, Mining, and Software. A new addition for 2026 is the Audience Choice Award, determined through online voting by the global Bitcoin community. Nominations are open to all Bitcoin projects, with a submission deadline of March 30, 2025. Winners are selected by a panel comprising members from leading Bitcoin associations, including Bitcoin Association Switzerland, EINUNDZWANZIG, Bitcoin Baden, and Bitcoin Alps. The awards ceremony will be followed by a celebratory party, fostering networking and community engagement among attendees.

Who Gets the Awards?

People who have done amazing work in Bitcoin, like teaching others, building software, helping the community, or mining, can win an award.
A group of experts from top Bitcoin groups (like Bitcoin Association Switzerland and EINUNDZWANZIG) helps choose the winners. Since 2024, everyone in the Bitcoin community can also vote to help pick the winners!
